306 bridges in Maryland are classified as structurally deficient. This means one or more of the key bridge elements, such as the deck, superstructure or substructure, is considered to be in “poor” or worse condition by government inspectors. These bridges are crossed 3.8 million times each day.

Placed end-to-end, there are 7 miles of structurally deficient bridges in Maryland. 524 of these bridges have weight restrictions in place.
