94,107 full time jobs in the state—more than 50% non-construction related.  These Michigan residents earn $4.1 billion annually and contribute $741 million in local, state, and federal taxes.

1,921,801 full time jobs in the state in key industries like tourism, trucking, retail sales, agriculture and manufacturing are completely dependent on the state’s transportation infrastructure network.  These Michigan residents earn $77 billion annually and contribute $14 billion in state taxes.

12,281 miles of Michigan’s major roads — nearly the equivalent of driving from Detroit to Spokane and back three times — are in poor condition.

Driving on poor roads costs the average Michigan motorist $539 per year in vehicle repairs and wasted fuel.

1,299 bridges in Michigan are classified as structurally deficient. This means one or more of the key bridge elements, such as the deck, superstructure or substructure, is considered to be in “poor” or worse condition by government inspectors. These bridges are crossed 7.1 million times each day.

Placed end-to-end, there are 24 miles of structurally deficient bridges in Michigan. Over 1,000 of these bridges have weight restrictions in place.

State and local governments in Michigan spent $1 billion on bridge repair and construction contracts over the past five years.
